In the growing season it is much friendlier to observe and identify the landscape world around us by the colors of flowers, shapes of leaves, and the many textures they include. In the Summer we have a world of green, the Winter a sea of grey, however year round identification has its merit. Focusing on the dormant season is a great time to learn more about the plants naked structure. It is very rewarding to watch a tree during Summer, then into Fall, and finally into dormancy. Observe the bark, wet and dry, look closely at the bud sand their color. Finally the structure of the branches, how the relate to other trees and whats familiar about them. Then, over time, you will be able to identify those grey objects out of the car window in any season.
